Can we talk? Let’s be really honest here. Not all Christians are Dominionists. In fact, I don’t personally consider Dominionists true Christians. You see, true Christians are not parasitic, nor are they power brokers. Dominionists are both.
Dominionism is a movement characterized by political activists working toward either a nation governed by Biblical principles (a theocracy) or, at the very least, governed by conservative Christians with a solid understanding of Biblical Law and dedicated to insuring a Christian nation.
The whole of this aberrant belief system stems from a verse in Genesis:
And God blessed Adam and Eve and God said unto them, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” —Genesis 1:28 (KJV)
Dominionists are intolerant of other religions and of those who are not the born-again variety of Christian. In the wake of the advent of this movement many Christians have found their churches steeple-jacked by the Dominionists and their minds being indoctrinated into a belief system that considers all 66 chapters of the Bible as being the inerrant word of God, and the earth to be no more than 6,000 years old.
Through extremely efficient marketing, media savvy, and psychological prowess the charlatans of Dominionism are making major inroads into our halls of government, our schools, our military, our businesses, our media, etc. In fact…that’s all part of the plan. They are working to “regain” the Kingdom through what they call the Seven Mountains Mandate.
In this “reclaiming” it is postulated that there are seven mountains of culture which must be reclaimed to bring a nation into the fold of Jesus Christ. Those ‘mountains’ are: business, government, media, arts and entertainment, education, the family and religion. And they have pulled out all of the stops to reach the top of each of those mountains.
According to the Dominionist, who as we are told have a direct line to God, it is no longer enough to preach and live the Gospel of Salvation. God now wants Christians to live the Gospel of the Kingdom. And…Kingdom building is what they are all about.
According to Peter Wilson, author and founding pastor of CrossPointChurch in Nashville, Tennessee:
“Today God is enlarging the Gospel from one of Salvation to one of the Kingdom. ‘The Gospel of the Kingdom‘ embraces not only individuals but also the nations; And develops Christians who are outward looking. Such people realize they have to take the Kingdom rule and reign of God into society and change the culture where God has placed them. They are no longer defensive but offensive. They are no longer living just a Church life but also a Kingdom life.”
We have see the shift to an offensive position in recent years through the ultra-conservative right’s attempt to convince us that the Founding Fathers were devout Christians and that this country was founded as a Christian nation. Equally as telling is strident nature of the anti-gay movement, the abortion bills that have been written and sometimes passed in our states, and the overt war on the rights of women. Additionally, the movement toward home-schooling, vouchers and the abolition of the separation of church and state both have their roots in Dominionism.
For the unsuspecting citizen, Christian or otherwise, such a movement might well be considered nothing more than a fringe element, and that is precisely what the Dominionists are counting on. Such fringe elements tend to be largely ignored and considered not worth our time to worry about. Hence, they are able to creep and seep into our areas of culture unnoticed and unchallenged.
What isn’t being realized by mainstream America is just how pervasive the movement has become. Unlike days passed, we can no longer take for granted that programs and offerings controlled by ‘the church’ must be okay. It is now imperative that we educate ourselves – what church? A good example of this is The Good News Club, a well-funded and highly coordinated effort at evangelizing our children.

“In 2001, the Supreme Court held that the Good News Club, a fundamentalist
Bible lesson program aimed at children ages 5-12, was entitled to have an afterschool club at MilfordCentralSchool. MilfordCentralSchool could not exclude the Good News Club merely because of its religious nature.
“Today, there are reportedly nearly 4,000 after-school Good News Clubs in America’s public elementary schools. The clubs tell children that they are desperately wicked and “deserve to die.”
From the curriculum:
What are some of your “little” sins? You deserve death for them: “When you complain about the meals your mom or dad cooks, it’s a sin. When you fail to keep a promise, it’s a sin. What are some other ways children your age sin? (Allow children to share examples). Some people think there’s nothing wrong a little sin—nothing will happen…. Because you have sinned, you have earned God’s punishment for sin, which is spiritual death…. That means … never going to Heaven.”
Jesus Died the Gratuitously Horrible Death You Deserved: “When Jesus died on the cross and the blood flowed form His body, He was taking the punishment that you and I deserve for our sin.”
Now, it is understandable that in today’s hustle-and-bustle world parents are stressed and frazzled and any help that they can get in the way of after school programs, etc. is happily accepted – especially if it is provided by a church. What could be the harm, right? In this instance, and many others, the harm is irreparable. In addition to the curriculum, the Good News Club works hard at turning our children into recruiters for their friends and family.
There are several such programs throughout the United States as it is the belief of the Dominionist that if you control the children you can control the world. Again, not all Christians are Dominionists, and many don’t even recognize that they are part of the movement. This is to the credit of the craftiness of the parasitic Dominionist. Like a pernicious malignancy they lie in wait and erode the very fabric of the host until it is simply too late. Right now, they are eroding the very fabric of every aspect of our society. Look for the signs…watch for the symptoms…and refuse to accept their destruction.
