When All Else Fails – Play the Race Card

WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS – PLAY THE RACE CARD

racismRemember when the Tea Party was showing their asses up and down Main Street, U.S.A.? Remember the signs – not just the misspelled ones, but the racist ones? Remember the sanctimonious protests that their movement wasn’t racist? Uh…huh – if you believed.

After spending decades of my life as an activist working against organized hate groups, I think I am more than qualified in identifying and classifying people and groups as racist in nature, and I have been labeling, not only the Tea Party, but ReBiblicans, in general and these Dominionist flim-flam artists as racist hate-mongers for a while now.

After struggling for the last several years to foist their radical Biblical agenda on the American people, their frustration level hit a crescendo this week, and they all seemed to have some sort of epiphany that their fear tactics needed yet another boost. Why not scare the hell out of white people?

Now, we all know that white supremacist consider Caucasians to be superior to all other races, and that one of their many tactics in their tired old bag of tricks has been to use fear of other races to recruit others into their hateful fold. Their own fear of becoming a minority in this country and losing their “white privilege” is all consuming. And, they have used their fear tactics throughout the ages.

Dominionist and their supporters use fear, as well. And, while they attempt to masquerade themselves as all-loving, tolerant, up-standing citizens we all know that when the veil is lifted, we find intolerance and bigotry.

Thus far, these individuals have targeted homosexuals, women, liberals, progressives, Muslims, and atheists with their propaganda, rhetoric, and legislation. Taking on such issues as same-sex marriage, the right to choose, terrorism, and God’s wrath they have pulled out all of the stops in their campaign of fear and foreboding. Now, they have taken a page from the White Supremacist Bible – the oppression of white people.

glenn-beck-cryingAccording to Glenn Beck, (I hardly even want to mention this imposter), progressives and liberals have been engaged in actions to start a revolution in this country. The recent flap over the rodeo clown in Missouri who dressed up like Obama and suggested that he be trampled by a bull, and the fallout that followed is proof positive of modern day McCarthyism. After all, the clown, according to Beck, was a “very brave artist.”

larry klaymanLarry Klayman, Founder of Judicial Watch, weekly columnist for the right-wing rag, World Net Daily, and well-known “birther,” has, once again, jumped on the conspiracy train to warn all of us that President Obama is engaged in a massive attempt to “keep whitey and whitey’s allies down.” In his article Obama’s Mein Kampf  he makes the following claim: http://www.renewamerica.com/columns/klayman/130814

“…perhaps it was Obama’s bigoted remarks after the George Zimmerman trial – where he effectively rejected the jury’s verdict of not guilty with a statement that he could have been Trayvon Martin 35 years ago – that truly unmasked his hateful intentions to make “whitey” and the others pay back “his people” for prior discrimination. And, indeed, this is what is at the heart of NSA-gate; a means to keep whitey and whitey’s allies down as Obama dismantles and deconstructs the nation by having them pay their “fair share” in reparations.”

For decades, one of the most used weapons in the white supremacist propaganda chest was the notion that white people were going to be forced to pay reparations to the descendents of slaves in this country. This idea was meant to strike fear in the hearts of white tax-payers. Of course, the use of “whitey” in his column was deliberate in his attempt to create outrage, and the use of “his people” speaks volumes to Klayman’s obvious prejudices.

erik_rushBut, the racist venom didn’t stop there. Erik Rush is another World Net Daily nut. Immediately after the bombing of the Boston Marathon, assuming the bomber had to be Muslim, Rush tweeted the following:

“Everybody do the National Security Ankle Grab! Let’s bring more Saudis in without screening them! C’mon!”

Today, Erik Rush wrote a new column in which he postulated that the new Forrest Whitiker/Oprha Winfrey movie Lee Daniels: The Butler is meant to “stoke anti-white violence.”

“…there is little doubt that the film will be used in the ongoing effort to rile black Americans. As I’ve said in the past, racial tension is one of the many circuits the administration has constructed that, when completed, may be used to initiate widespread civil unrest at the president’s push of a button.”

“There have been quite a few instances of black-on-white violent crime since Obama came into office; these have gone largely unreported by the establishment press for reasons that should be obvious. The point is that some blacks have become sufficiently motivated to perpetrate these crimes, and it is all – all – due to the lies into which they have subscribed.”

http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/erik-rush-obama-and-oprah-will-use-butler-stoke-anti-white-violence#sthash.EFVCY2Ed.dpuf

Yet another chapter from the playbook has been unearthed. The old mantra of black on white crime, as well as riots in the streets, is a staple of the white nationalist crowd. A thinking person would know that if “Mandingo” or “A Time to Kill” didn’t create a civil uprising, the chances are a movie about a White House butler probably won’t either. But, then we ARE talking about last ditch efforts from those who would best be accomodated by life in an asylum.

JESSE-PETERSON-PHOTOThen there is Jesse Lee Peterson, the African-American darling of the Tea Party, and the founder of The Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny (BOND). On September 21, 2005, Peterson penned a column for WorldNetDaily, in which he suggested the majority of the African-American people stranded in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina were “welfare-pampered”, “lazy” and “immoral”.

Peterson believes that Islam is an evil religion and that Muslims hate us because we are, after all, a Christian nation. According to Wikipedia:

“He has also claimed, “Barack Obama hates white people, especially white men” and “Barack Obama is Jeremiah Wright Jr. He is the NAACP and the Congressional Black Caucus! He embodies the aspirations of every left-wing black group that wants to tear down this country and take power away from the “oppressive” white man. He’s not an obvious race hustler like Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson; but Obama is a smooth pathological liar—with a wicked heart” Peterson has also thanked “God and white people” for slavery adding if it weren’t for the slave trade, blacks might have never made it to the promise land and described slave ships as akin to “being on a crowded airplane”. Peterson is friends with Sean Hannity and is a frequent guest on his TV show.

“He has said women should not be allowed to vote:

“Women cannot handle power. It’s not in them to handle power in the right way. […] I think that one of the greatest mistakes America made was to allow women the opportunity to vote. We should’ve never turned this over to women. […] It was a big mistake. […] And these women are voting in the wrong people. They’re voting in people who are evil who agrees [sic] with them who’re gonna take us down this pathway of destruction. And this probably was the reason they didn’t allow women to vote when men were men. Because men in the good old days understood the nature of the woman. They were not afraid to deal with it. And they understood that, you let them take over, this is what would happen.”

Yesterday, Peterson was interviewed by the Los Angeles Times where he claims that most black Americans are suffering from a lack of moral character – not racism and that most black people are racist toward whites. He also believes that the Civil Rights Act didn’t do enough to protect white people:

The problem with the Civil Rights Act of 1965, Peterson tells the Times, is that it didn’t “protect white folks” against “black racism.”

http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/jesse-lee-peterson-civil-rights-act-didn-t-do-enough-protect-white-people#sthash.Pz5FIJzS.dpuf

Perpetuating the myth that white people in this country are being oppressed on a daily basis is the stock and trade of the White Nationalist. While Peterson doesn’t fit the bill because of his race, he has no problem with furthering the message to maintain his standing within the extremist community. I doubt that he realizes how expendable to that crowd he really is. However, Peterson et.al. have become useful tools to those who are attempting to bamboozle the public into believing that they couldn’t possibly be racist pigs.

Sandy riosThe next outfit to signal their racist discontent was none other than the American Family Association which has already been listed as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law center. Talk-show host, Sandy Rios sounded the alarm about Obamacare and Muslims in Michigan. According to Rios, Obama resettled “thousands of Palestinian refugees in the United States once he became president – a rumor long since proven erroneous – but, it makes for good right-wing radio. Here is a little clip from her rant:

“I think it is frightening because they are Islamists and they are in the heart of our country, and now they are qualified for food stamps as well. We know that in Michigan, Muslim men have multiple wives even though we don’t allow that in this country. They do still practice it so they go in and sign up for food assistance…. Is Arabic going to be the new language—how many languages are we going to have that are going to be officially acknowledged in America?”

http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/sandy-rios-fears-food-stamps-will-aid-islamists-and-palestinian-refugees-obama-didnt-resettl#sthash.Tfp2SyqX.dpuf

Once again, using the scare tactics that “American culture” is going to be changed, and that other etnicities are threatening our language and our way of life is simply one of the old, tired arguments of groups like the Klan, the neo-Nazi’s, the old White Citizens Party, the Council of Conservative Citizens, etc.

So, what has caused this recent spate of racist rhetoric from the extremist right? Generally speaking, only the most in-your-face, groups of organized racists speak in such caustic and despicable terms, while the closet racists, right-wing pundits, and political hopefuls keep their poker faces and attempt to defraud the public.

Also generally speaking, the extremist right has made very little headway this year in furthering their insidious agenda. What little they have accomplished has met with a great deal of derision, and in some cases, court rulings against their pernicious attempts. Consequently, their frustration has, perhaps, resulted in a dropping of the mask allowing their true colors to emerge. Desperation can sometimes cause fools to become even more foolish. As we have all witnessed before, when all else fails, as it has, they play the race card. That’s what it’s always been about, anyway.

The Fringe Has Become Mainstream

embarrassedOh…holy S*#T! The thing that nightmares are made of has become a reality! The once called “fringe element” has now become mainstream! People – you can’t make this crap up! No wonder we have lost so much face with other nations around the world! Between the ignorance of Dubyah and his “yer either with us or agin’ us mentality,” the Tea Party with their beer-bellies and misspelled and racist signs, a backwards Alaskan bimbo running for the Vice Presidency, and the ranting of a bunch of fanatical religious zealots warning of Sharia Law while seeking a Christian theocratic government, the last several years have cost the United States a fortune in respect and favor with the rest of the world.

rand paul3Now add to that the insufferable and bodaciously ridiculous crowning of Rand Paul as “The Most Interesting Man in the Political World” by Chris Cilliza of the Washington Post and at the very least I think I am going to throw up in my mouth.

Rand Paul, who is convinced there is going to be a NAFTA super highway through the United States that would connect Mexico and Canada, and warns about the “Amero” – Rand Paul who has sounded the alarm that the UN is going to force the United States to confiscate and destroy all unauthorized civilian firearms and create an international gun registry – Rand Paul who loves to tell scary drone stories about President Obamathat Rand Paul is credited with being the most interesting man in the political world?

Rand-PaulRand Paul, who blames the Department of Energy for his malfunctioning toilets – Rand Paul, who gets his news from World Net Daily and considers that to be a credible news source – Rand Paul, who claims that the President is using Obamacare to have doctors inform on their patients about their gun ownership prior to a mass confiscation – that Rand Paul is being called the most interesting man in the political world?

Oh…holy S*#T! I’m certain he is basking in his new found fame – and Chris Cilliza just had to encourage him! Geez!

glenn-beck-cryingEarlier this week, Rand Paul found himself on the Glenn Beck show – now that’s a pair to draw to! I really don’t ever want to know how either of their brains get from point A to point B – because I really don’t think being psychotic would be a fun thing. The two of them seemed to get on famously with each other and the got into a discussion about the Supreme Court decision on DOMA. Well, what better topic for two anti-gay, bigoted, probably closeted men to broach?

Beck, with his usual air of authority postulated that the ruling by the SCOTUS opened the door to legalize polygamy:

“If you change one variable — man and a woman to man and man, and woman and woman — you cannot then tell me that you can’t logically tell me you can’t change the other variable — one man, three women. Uh, one woman, four men…. If I’m a devout Muslim and I come over here and I have three wives, who are you to say if I’m an American citizen, that I can’t have multiple marriages.”

Uh…okay. I’m not sure that I follow, but I’m not sure that I really want to. However, we have to remember that he was talking to Rand Paul, who in his twisted and warped state of mental inertia, seemed to follow Beck’s illogic quite well. But, Paul wasn’t going to be outdone or upstaged by Beck, and he took it one step further:

“I think this is the conundrum and gets back to what you were saying in the opening — whether or not churches should decide this. But it is difficult because if we have no laws on this people take it to one extension further. Does it have to be humans?

confused“You know, I mean, so there really are, the question is what social mores, can some social mores be part of legislation? Historically we did at the state legislative level, we did allow for some social mores to be part of it. Some of them were said to be for health reasons and otherwise, but I’m kind of with you, I see the thousands-of-year tradition of the nucleus of the family unit. I also see that economically, if you just look without any kind of moral periscope and you say, what is it that is the leading cause of poverty in our country? It’s having kids without marriage. The stability of the marriage unit is enormous and we should not just say oh we’re punting on it, marriage can be anything.”

First off – what the hell did he say? I mean, I got the gist of it in that he was insinuating that someone could marry their pig, but the rest of this is sheer idiocy! But, I guess that’s okay if you wear the crown of being the most interesting man in the political world. Given the current state of affairs and the officials who have been elected to represent the American people, it might very well be par for the course.

More and more often I wake up in the morning feeling as though I have been transported to some other plane – someplace where sanity has been stolen and replaced by an irrational derangement without any basis in reality. More and more often I find myself cringing in embarrassment for our country and our image.

If Rand Paul can be considered a “rising star” as the New York Times called him, and the most interesting man in the political world – I might just have to answer his question “Does it have to be humans?” If this is the best we have to offer, it might behoove all of us to marry our dogs as they are infinitely smarter and more logical than many of those two-legged politicians who claim to represent us.

This Week In Review

From Nicole Nichols & Crooked Crosses

Military Blues – Shame On The “Radical Left!”

The announcement this week that women will now be allowed to serve in combat roles while in the military has sent the religious right completely over the cliff and into a fit of outrage.

Of course the fingers have been immediately pointed toward the “liberal agenda.” After all, it was the liberals who were responsible for the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

Byan Fischer

Byan Fischer

Bryan Fischer, of the American Family Association, is having a field day with this as he predicts a “total sexual meltdown.”

In an interview yesterday with Elaine Donnelly of the Center for Military Readiness, Fischer went on a tirade prophesying that the new policy will “undermine readiness, cohesion, security, and lead to a reinstatement of the draft.” Uh…didn’t Fischer say much the same thing about rescinding Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell?

He went on to warn of a “complete sexual meltdown” occurring due to “predatory women” trying to sleep with officers, citing CIA head David Petraeus’s affair with a reporter.

Fischer’s American Family Association has already been classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center because of its stand against homosexuals. It would appear that Fischer is trying to make certain that the group live up to that by now including women in their war against all things contradictory to their warped religious views.

 Powerful Voices

Well, this week marked the 40th anniversary of Roe v Wade, and, of course, there has been a ton of squawking from the religious right as they marched upon the Supreme Court to brandish their signs of displeasure.

In keeping with the season, the Christian Post announced its list of the Four Most Powerful Pro-Life Female Voices:

  • Marjorie Dannenfelser, the President and Chairman of the Board of the Susan B. Anthony List.
  • Abby Johnson, Chief Research Strategist for Live Action
  • Penny Nance, President and CEO for Concerned Women of America
  • Charmaine Yoest, President and CEO of Americans United For Life.

There you have it – a list of four women who stand firmly behind the Personhood Acts, oppose contraception, and oppose abortion in all cases – even rape. The troubling thing is not that they have powerful voices, but that they have the ears of some of the most powerful people in the country.

A cross in a glorious cloud of golden light.

 Sekulow’s War Against Women

On Thursday, January 24, 2013, the American Center for Law & Justice filed its fourth direct challenge to the mandate of the Department of Health and Human Services that requires employers to provide health insurance which covers contraceptives.

Jay Sekulow

Jay Sekulow

Jay Sekulow, the Chief Council for the ACLJ, has long been on a crusade prove that such a mandate violates the First Amendment, The Religious Freedom and Restoration Act, and the Administrative Procedure Act. So far, he has not been successful.

Sekulow has built a financial empire and lives a lavish lifestyle which is suspicious for anyone who is employed by a charitable organization. However, it speaks volumes about his inability to understand the importance of contraceptives to those lowly, hard-working individuals who simply cannot afford another mouth to feed.

 Demons & Exorcists

Kilingenschmitt

Kilingenschmitt

Now, for the really crazy stuff! We knew that the airy high that we were experiencing following the inauguration couldn’t last for long. Gordon Klingenschmitt, a religious right extremist of the

nth degree, who considers himself a “gay exorcist,” didn’t just go off the rails – he took the train right into the river of insanity.

In an email that went out to the followers of is “Pray In Jesus Name” project, he actually claimed that President Obama’s support for gay equality is an “open invitation to the devil and demonic rule.” He went on to postulate that Obama is “making Satan equal to God as he declares the demonic to be Godly.”

According to Klingenschmitt, “There is one reason homosexual sodomy will never be “equal” to traditional marriage: Satan will never be equal to God.”

He closed his email asking for all of his followers to “…pray for our President to repent, and renounce evil, and invite the Holy Spirit to rule his heart? Then let’s petition all 100 Senators to protect traditional marriage.”

It is important to note that Gordon Klingenschmitt is the author of an ebook that chronicles how President Obama is ruled by 50 demons. The scariest part is, he actually has a following.

Arm the Students & Kill Obamacare

In the wake of his waning popularity, Glen Beck continues to promote loony-tunes David Barton. Last week, Beck had Barton on his television show which, thank God, largely went unnoticed. Barton is this quirky little evangelical minister who considers himself a historian and promotes rewriting school textbooks to reflect a white, Christian perspective. He is the founder of WallBuilders, a Texas outfit that works against the separation of church and state.

Glenn Beck

Glenn Beck

The program initially started out as a discussion over health-care. Glenn Beck, true to his ignorance, claimed that Obamacare would lead to people being forced to relinquish their guns. How he manages to justify that statement is anyone’s guess, but in Beck’s world, I would imagine that there are those who get his train of thought. He also claimed that the Act would lead to “Nazi-like euthanasia programs.”

David Barton

David Barton

Somehow, the talk turned to gun control and the recent school shootings. Barton, not to be outdone by Beck’s hallucinations, told the audience that the NRA had been established in order to protect freed slaves from lynchings – and that there never used to be school shootings in the 1800’s because all of the kids took their guns to school.

There you have it! Arm the kids and solve the problem!

A cross in a glorious cloud of golden light.

DeMint’s Career Move Strategic & Calculated

Leah Burton is, certainly, the go-to person when it comes to Dominionism in politics, and her spot on critique doesn’t pull any punches in this, her latest article.

DeMint-WolfI know that many are doing a little dance singing “Ding-Dong the Tea Party is Dead”…but don’t get too cocky. The announcement in the Wall Street Journal that South Carolina U.S. Senator Jim DeMint is resigning his position before the end of his term is not an indicator of his abdicating power. Quite the contrary. He is moving into a very powerful and influential position as the new president of the Heritage Foundation, one of many that are funded by the Koch Brothers & Co.

These folks are truly experts at re-branding and after the ass-kicking they received in the presidential primaries and general election of 2012 they are re-grouping with a vengeance. They know that they were humiliated and mocked – even within their own conservative ranks and they are not about to repeat 2012. Here is a clip from Right Wing Watch of Glenn Beck and DeMint sharing a kumbaya moment on Beck’s radio today…
