Rediscover God In America? I Didn’t Know He/She Was Lost!

civic2There ought to be some sort of litmus test for those who wish to represent the American people and this country. I mean, after all, they should be able to demonstrate some basic knowledge – you know, the stuff that is taught in Civics 101. Perhaps, they should even have some sort of geographical understanding of the world? Is it too much to ask that those in Congress have a general grasp of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the basis upon which this country was established before they are allowed to represent us to the rest of the world?

This past week, the “Rediscovering God in America event was held in Iowa. Now, I didn’t know that God had ever been “undiscovered,” but, my ignorance aside, the event was part of a 12-state strategy that is aimed at turning out those conservative, evangelical voters in the 2014, elections. It is but one of many planned events presented by David Lane’s American Renewal Project.

Of course, we know that the Christian Right pretty much threw in the towel in the 2012, Presidential election once it became evident that none the numerous Dominionist candidates they slated would stand up to the scrutiny of the American public. They then threw their support and their money behind the Congressional, state, and local politicians who would do their bidding.

In the meantime, they began work behind closed doors on the much coveted and anticipated 2014, and 2016, campaign cycles hoping to marginalize all candidates not considered to be of a “Godly nature.”

While those of us who have been aware of these plans and maneuverings have been vigilantly watching and reporting, much of mainstream America has no inkling of what is taking place right under their not-so-watchful noses. That’s to be expected – and that’s the way the Dominionist like it. However, it has been rather amusing to watch as the internet bloggers display absolute shock and outrage when they realize that Senators, Congressmen and other politicians are attending, supporting and speaking at such events.

Last week, Senators and presidential hopefuls, Rand Paul and Ted Cruz were featured speakers at the Iowa event – and the blogosphere went wild. Why? Does anyone honestly believe that there are not those in our halls of power who do not adhere to the separation of church and state, or who do not have an agenda that coincides with the extremist right wing? There are currently 41 Senators who fit that bill, and several more who are sympathetic to the far-right ideology of Christian Nationalism, and who insist that this nation is a Christian nation.

David Lane’s American Renewal Project has targeted 12 States: Colorado, Iowa, Louisiana, Montana, South Carolina, Alaska, Arkansas, North Carolina, Nevada, South Dakota, Virginia and West Virginia. Several of those states will have Senate races in 2014.

david laneDavid Lane likes to fly under the radar, however his hand can be found in many of the events that have been planned around the country. He has strong connections to national and state politicians and is considered one of the most influential people in the dominionist arena. The American Renewal Project is largely funded by the American Family Association, a designated hate group based in Tupelo, Mississippi. Lane has been around for at least 20 years and works with numerous Christian leaders. He was largely responsible for Rick Perry’s prayer rally and is a close ally of Perry.

Lane is anti-abortion, anti-homosexual, anti-non-Christian, believes that women should be submissive to their husbands, and has been called a Christian evangelical political “Kingmaker.” You might recall that Senator Rand Paul made a trip to Israel earlier in the year. Well, that trip was organized by none other than David Lane. According to Lane:

“This trip to meet with Israelis, Arabs and Palestinians is absolutely the first step in his 2016 White House campaign.”

Additionally, the trip was financed by the American Family Association. As mentioned earlier, The AFA has been designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center for its demonizing propaganda against LGBT individuals. Of course, we know that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree when it comes to Ron and Rand Paul, but I wonder if Rand will conviently claim that he had no idea who was behind the trip just as his father had no idea who wrote the racist and homophobic articles under his by-line.

paul laneAn interesting side note to all of this is that David Lane’s daughter is employed by Rand Paul as his press assistant. Unlike Daddy Paul who often tried to bamboozle the public when it came to his dominionist views, Rand embraces his extremism.

Ted Cruz, the new Senator from Texas, is no different. A strong ally of Rick Perry and the far-right-wing extremists, Cruz told the audience in Iowa:

“Book of Isaiah tells us: My people perish for lack of knowledge. Edmund Burke put the points a little differently when he said the only thing necessary for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing. And the prophet Ezekiel charged us, son of man, you are a watchman for the house of Israel.”

Ted Cruz After what has been called a “fiery speech,” Cruz walked into the audience where the pastors met him, laid their hands upon him, and prayed over him.

The list of politicians and leaders who are associated with David Lane is quite lengthy – astonishingly so. Right now, the seeds are being sown for the upcoming elections. There is little doubt that, given the political climate in this country, the dominionists will succeed in placing more of what they consider to be the “right kind of Christians” in seats of power. How many more, is up to the American people.

Considering the stealth nature of the maneuvers of the Dominionist Movement, their abilities to market and rebrand themselves, and the gullibility of mainstream America, stopping them will be a daunting task. We already have a list of current Senators who fit their mold. Within the next few weeks, we hope to have a list of current Representatives. It is incumbent upon us to be watchful, not just in the Congressional races, but in our state and local races as well.

Bryan Fischer Goes Politically Incorrect – Again!

Bryan Fischer is the Director of Issues Analysis for the American Family Association – a designated hate group. He is also a key activist in the Dominionist Movement. He hosts the talk radio program “Focal Point” on American Family Radio and posts on the AFA blog, “Instant Analysis.”

Like all of these extremists, Fischer opposes abortion, national health care, environmentalism, gay adoption, and same sex marriage. But, yesterday he decided not to be “politically correct,” (gasp) and issued the following statement:

“Now, I am gonna say something here and I don’t care that it is politically incorrect. And i know if Right Wing Watch picks up on this or anybody else they’re just gonna lacerate me for this. I don’t care. From a biblical standpoint, it’s very clear that men are designed to be the breadwinners for their families. That’s the way God set it up; that’s the way he designed it. Husbands are to use their stamina and their strength and their brainpower – not that they’re smarter than women, I’m not saying that – but God’s given them a brain and the purpose for using their mental ability is to provide for their families, to use their physical strength to work hard, to work long hours, to use their physical strength to protect their wives and protect their children and be providers for them. That is the biblical pattern. And the biblical pattern is for a wife and a mother to focus her energies, devote her energies on [sic] making a home for her children and for her husband. And there’s another problem, is the number of married mothers who out earn their husbands. That number has quadrupled and I – and again I’m gonna be politically incorrect here – I don’t think that’s a good idea. I don’t think it’s a healthy dynamic to have the wife out earn her husband because so much of his sense of worth as a male is tied up in what he does vocationally and providing for his family. That’s his calling. That’s not his wife’s job to provide for his family. He knows that it’s his job. And if he has a wife that out earns him I think that’s gonna put some stress on his psyche, gonna put some stress on that marriage.”

Well, shame on all of you women who have clawed your way to the top and now earn more than the macho guy you married! Don’t you realize how badly you are damaging his psyche when you do that? Stay the hell at home. Get knocked up. Wash the dishes and cook the meals, and do as you are told!

Military Blues – Shame On The “Radical Left!”

The announcement this week that women will now be allowed to serve in combat roles while in the military has sent the religious right completely over the cliff and into a fit of outrage.

Of course the fingers have been immediately pointed toward the “liberal agenda.” After all, it was the liberals who were responsible for the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

Byan Fischer

Byan Fischer

Bryan Fischer, of the American Family Association, is having a field day with this as he predicts a “total sexual meltdown.”

In an interview yesterday with Elaine Donnelly of the Center for Military Readiness, Fischer went on a tirade prophesying that the new policy will “undermine readiness, cohesion, security, and lead to a reinstatement of the draft.” Uh…didn’t Fischer say much the same thing about rescinding Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell?

He went on to warn of a “complete sexual meltdown” occurring due to “predatory women” trying to sleep with officers, citing CIA head David Petraeus’s affair with a reporter.

Fischer’s American Family Association has already been classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center because of its stand against homosexuals. It would appear that Fischer is trying to make certain that the group live up to that by now including women in their war against all things contradictory to their warped religious views.

 Powerful Voices

Well, this week marked the 40th anniversary of Roe v Wade, and, of course, there has been a ton of squawking from the religious right as they marched upon the Supreme Court to brandish their signs of displeasure.

In keeping with the season, the Christian Post announced its list of the Four Most Powerful Pro-Life Female Voices:

  • Marjorie Dannenfelser, the President and Chairman of the Board of the Susan B. Anthony List.
  • Abby Johnson, Chief Research Strategist for Live Action
  • Penny Nance, President and CEO for Concerned Women of America
  • Charmaine Yoest, President and CEO of Americans United For Life.

There you have it – a list of four women who stand firmly behind the Personhood Acts, oppose contraception, and oppose abortion in all cases – even rape. The troubling thing is not that they have powerful voices, but that they have the ears of some of the most powerful people in the country.

 Sekulow’s War Against Women

On Thursday, January 24, 2013, the American Center for Law & Justice filed its fourth direct challenge to the mandate of the Department of Health and Human Services that requires employers to provide health insurance which covers contraceptives.

Jay Sekulow

Jay Sekulow

Jay Sekulow, the Chief Council for the ACLJ, has long been on a crusade prove that such a mandate violates the First Amendment, The Religious Freedom and Restoration Act, and the Administrative Procedure Act. So far, he has not been successful.

Sekulow has built a financial empire and lives a lavish lifestyle which is suspicious for anyone who is employed by a charitable organization. However, it speaks volumes about his inability to understand the importance of contraceptives to those lowly, hard-working individuals who simply cannot afford another mouth to feed.

 Demons & Exorcists

Kilingenschmitt

Kilingenschmitt

Now, for the really crazy stuff! We knew that the airy high that we were experiencing following the inauguration couldn’t last for long. Gordon Klingenschmitt, a religious right extremist of the

nth degree, who considers himself a “gay exorcist,” didn’t just go off the rails – he took the train right into the river of insanity.

In an email that went out to the followers of is “Pray In Jesus Name” project, he actually claimed that President Obama’s support for gay equality is an “open invitation to the devil and demonic rule.” He went on to postulate that Obama is “making Satan equal to God as he declares the demonic to be Godly.”

According to Klingenschmitt, “There is one reason homosexual sodomy will never be “equal” to traditional marriage: Satan will never be equal to God.”

He closed his email asking for all of his followers to “…pray for our President to repent, and renounce evil, and invite the Holy Spirit to rule his heart? Then let’s petition all 100 Senators to protect traditional marriage.”

It is important to note that Gordon Klingenschmitt is the author of an ebook that chronicles how President Obama is ruled by 50 demons. The scariest part is, he actually has a following.

Arm the Students & Kill Obamacare

In the wake of his waning popularity, Glen Beck continues to promote loony-tunes David Barton. Last week, Beck had Barton on his television show which, thank God, largely went unnoticed. Barton is this quirky little evangelical minister who considers himself a historian and promotes rewriting school textbooks to reflect a white, Christian perspective. He is the founder of WallBuilders, a Texas outfit that works against the separation of church and state.

Glenn Beck

Glenn Beck

The program initially started out as a discussion over health-care. Glenn Beck, true to his ignorance, claimed that Obamacare would lead to people being forced to relinquish their guns. How he manages to justify that statement is anyone’s guess, but in Beck’s world, I would imagine that there are those who get his train of thought. He also claimed that the Act would lead to “Nazi-like euthanasia programs.”

David Barton

David Barton

Somehow, the talk turned to gun control and the recent school shootings. Barton, not to be outdone by Beck’s hallucinations, told the audience that the NRA had been established in order to protect freed slaves from lynchings – and that there never used to be school shootings in the 1800’s because all of the kids took their guns to school.

There you have it! Arm the kids and solve the problem!
