Nothing ever prepares us for senseless violence. Nothing ever prepares us for a display of unmitigated hatred against an entire segment of our society. Nothing ever prepares us for tragedy in our midst. However, in 21st Century America, we are witnessing such things on an almost weekly, if not daily, basis.
The shooting s at the Overland Park Jewish Community Center and Village Shalom, a Jewish retirement home in Overland, Kansas yesterday left the entire community reeling in disbelief. Talented children from across the area had gathered at the Center to participate in auditions for KC Superstar, a singing contest that had been held at the Center for the last five years. All of those kids were hoping to advance and eventually win the coveted $10,000 Craig Citron Memorial Scholarship that is awarded to the best high school singer in the metropolitan area. Little did they know that shots would be fired by a maniacal old anti-Semite who was in a love affair with the memory of Adolf Hitler.
April brings out the worst in neo-Nazi and hate group behaviors. Just last week, the Anti-Defamation League sent out an alert that the Passover Holiday was coming up and that Hitler’s birthday was approaching. These are two of the most troublesome events as far as violence from the racist groups in this country. The ADL was, unfortunately, correct.
The shooter, Frazier Glenn Cross, or Frazier Glenn Miller, as most know him, went on a rampage killing three people – two at the Community Center and one at Village Shalom. The two dead at the Community Center were Dr. William Lewis Corporon, 69, and his 14-year-old Grandson, Reat Griffin Underwood. The third victim was Terri LaManno, 53, a former occupational therapist at Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired. She was visiting her mother at Village Shalom.
According to eye-witness accounts, Miller asked if they were Jewish before he shot them. Upon his arrest he was shouting “Heil Hitler.” The irony in all of this is that none of his victims were Jewish. Corporon and his grandson Reat were both Methodist. LaManno was Catholic. Jew-hater, racist, and hate-monger, Miller, killed three white, non-Jewish people.
Frazier Glenn Miller, a former Green Beret, has a long history within the White Supremacist Movement, and was once a “Grand Dragon” of the Carolina Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, and founder of the White Patriot Party, a Christian Identity group. A resident of Aurora, Missouri, Frazier is known for his vitriolic hate speech, his calls to action, and abrasive personality. He is someone who the Southern Poverty Law Center, as well as law enforcement have kept their eyes on for decades. For years, Miller has been affiliated with Alex Linder, founder of the racist Vanguard News Network. On their forum, he used the screen name “Rounder.” To many of the neo-Nazi types who frequent the cesspool of hate, he is revered. To others, however, he is nothing more than a tool for law-enforcement. Some blame him for the arrest of the infamous group known as “The Order.”
“Rounder” built up quite an internet presence in the neo-Nazi community, often bemoaning the lack of ‘activism’ among white supremacists. When the news first hit about the shootings, the VNN forum came alive with the usual cheering and applauding that accompanies acts of violence against minorities among the hate-ridden ranks.
The identity of the shooter had not yet been released and the details were sketchy. All they knew was that there had been three killings at a Jewish center. Here are a few of their reactions:
“Thank God people are finally fighting back against these vicious demonic parasites. The jews are so evil. It is shocking that most people still don’t have a clue despite the fact that the Internet has given total transparency to their incredible and innumerable crimes”.
“Happy April 20th.”
“3 ain’t bad. Heil Hitler brother!!”
“It’s so terrible, that he was apprehended.”
Later, as pictures of “Rounder’s” arrest started to surface, the fact that it was one of their own started to set in. While some were critical of his actions, his stalwart fans were trying to hold their own.
“Is KS a death penalty state?
If so, you can bet izzy’s jewstice system is going to use it here.
“It’s OK to be a coon and rape and murder several Whites, in fact they’ll even let you out after 15 years or so. But kill the chosen ones? Oy! Oy!… never again!”
“He meant it, guys. Surprised? Why? The only legitimate criticism might be his score.”
“He needed to go on a more crowded day. It doesn’t sound like it was too well thought out.”
“You know they’ll at least throw him down a deep, dark hole. Probably Florence, or some place like that where he will be held incommunicado indefinitely. The upside… three less blood sucking parasites in the world. The downside… one less pretty good spokesman for WN.”
“Well ultimate responsbility for this unfortunate little episode lies solely with the System which has created the conditions that could potentially force a certain type to do something like this.”
Journeying into the VNN forum is rather unnerving. Doing so for any length of time often ends with a lengthy shower and a good stiff drink. However disturbing that venture might be it definitely gives one the sense of depravity and insanity that has kidnapped the minds of the neo-Nazi and Christian Identity Movement. One individual, however, seemed to have it all figured out. What Frazier Glenn Miller did was necessary. Why? Well, it seems there was another event taking place at the Center which required Miller’s attention:
“I liked that guy, this makes me sorta sad, but also happy. I am glad he will go to heaven for sure now. These bolshevik brats were rehearsing the play “To Kill a Mockingbird”, which is about a scum lawyer who gets a black rapist of white women off, and is portrayed as a hero.
“He acted appropriately. That kind of filth is disgusting and they should all be shot more than once. I am sad for his girlfriend or wife though, whoever answered his phone.
“Part of me says he was worth more than those victims, but I think it was a beautiful, idealistic sacrifice.
“That play mocks the tragedy of millions of rapes of white women by blacks. He will die a true hero now, he was before but to act alone for what is right, it takes 1000 times more courage than when you got a thousand people backing you.”
Uh…seriously? Fortunately, a newcomer to the forum, and apparently not an adherent, posed the question, “Did the kids understand that? Enough to die for?” A rational voice in an irrational world! But, the poster would not be dissuaded. His response:
“i’m just taking a wild guess those kids were gonna grow up to be nigger lovin’ pansies, jew enablers. Future traitors. Glenn did them a favor. He was like a real father to them, teaching them right from wrong.”
“whatever he did in the past, this makes up for it. All I know for sure is he was a sound voice for the truth, and stood up on talk shows, ran ads on TV, did 1000 times more than 99.9999% of the public to tell the world the truth about the goddamn jews. He’s not the 1% he’s the goddamn elite .001%.
“I had to read that book, To Kill a Mockingbird in school, so have tens of millions of white impressionable 14 year olds. He has set a fantastic example of how an adult, informed audience should respond.
“All these fake fucking churches are putting this play on around the country for little kids. There are thousands of them and they have huge crowds.
“Niggers are going completely wild and these people are still relentless pushing this shit on white kids when they should be being trained for all out race war in self defense. These people are absolute judas horses. They are leading a whole new generation of white children to middle school rape and soulless wiggerdom.”
When another opined that what Miller did might have been “dementia,” he met with the following resistance:
“Semitic christinsanity is not a form of dementia. The latter disproportionately afflicts the elderly, while the former is inflicted on the young.
“I’m more interested in examining the sociological and ideological context of this event than I am in drawing any moral conclusions about the individual persons involved. If the next of kin are content that the deceased are now blissful inhabitants of a semitic heaven, why should we feel otherwise?”
Neo-Nazi’s, white supremacists, Kluxers, white nationalists, national socialists, etc., are pretty much cut from the same cloth. Within the rank and file of any of those groups, however, you will find a broad spectrum of individuals from the intellectual and propaganda motivated to the radical, violent-prone psychopath. You have the Holocaust deniers who spend their years manufacturing evidence that will negate the horrendous events during the Hitler years. You have the skinheads and youth who are searching for acceptance and fighting their own demons of self-worth and recognition. You have the internet warriors who believe they are “helping the cause” by belting back a few while sitting at their key-boards and commiserating with their comrades on the current plight of the white man. You have the Alex Linder’s and the Don Black’s who spearhead the “Movement” by providing a forum and a few occasional sound-bites for the media.
Vanguard News Network has, over the years, become a gathering place for some of the most virulent and venomous racists among us. Several of them are currently behind bars. Miller was a time-bomb. That time-bomb attracted some of the worst possible psychopaths the movement has to offer. His early escapades endeared him greatly to the most vulnerable and malleable of the group. Additionally, when you combine the Christian Identity ideology of Miller and many others with the deep-seated psychoses which often accompanies pernicious and malignant hatred, the outcome is generally deadly.
As can be seen by the words of his followers, there are more budding and aspiring racist individuals left behind to follow in Miller’s footsteps. While there are countless men and women out there who harbor racist animosities, it is difficult to ascertain how many or who might go down Miller’s path. However, one is one to many.
