Who’s Crazier? The ReBiblicans or the Voters?

Ted YohoFlorida! Beautiful swaying palms, pristine sandy beaches, warm ocean water, great fishing, lots of fun in the sun – I grew up there, and life was good. Today? Not so much. Today Florida is home to George Zimmerman, crooked politicians and right-wing crazies. Today they claim folks like Marco Rubio and Gus Bilirakis along with a whole host of others as their “leaders.” Among that long list of whacked out nut-jobs is Ted Yoho.

Yoho recently held a town hall meeting that I wish I could have attended. But, alas, living 1,200 miles away, I just couldn’t quite get there from here. It’s probably just as well as I would probably have ended up in jail for disturbing the peace and using a great deal of profanity in the public square.

Now, it’s no secret that good ole Ted is one of those ReBiblicans that I talk so much about. He’s a veterinarian who came out of virtually nowhere and won the election last year. But, it really didn’t take long before we could determine just exactly where this man’s head is.

Standing in front of many of his constituents, Yoho took the opportunity to reignite the whole “Birther” issue. Yeah, you just thought all of that was behind us. You see, Steve Stockman, the nut-job representative out of Texas, has introduced some sort of “Birther Bill” and Yoho, who just couldn’t resist, promised his people that he would back that legislation. Stockman, you may remember, is the same idiot who brought Ted Nugent to the State of the Union Address.

Actually, Yoho indicated that there were other, more pressing issues than the birther issue, but said that an investigation into Obama’s birth certificate could bring down the whole government. “They said if it is true, it’s illegal, he shouldn’t be there and we can get rid of everything he’s done, and I said I agree with that.”

Now, if it seems that Yoho has gone a little over the edge, he has. You see, Yoho went on to tell the audience that Obamacare is racist against white people. Why? Because there is a tax on tanning beds. He claimed that white people who want to tan are being discriminated against because of the color of their skin.

Later, speaking about food-stamp funding, Yoho said that he very much doubted that 50 million Americans are dealing with food insecurity:

“I think there’s 330 million people starving, at least three times a day, we call it breakfast, lunch and dinner.” He added that huge proposed cuts to food aid won’t impact anyone, telling the audience that “not one person would lose a calorie or crumb that deserves it.” http://rightwingwatch.org

As to terrorism – Yoho has spoken with some guy who works with Hezbollah, (uh…huh), and he said that Hezbollah has already smuggled 1,500 people into the United States who “don’t like us and want to blow us up.”

Now, no one can make this stuff up. Yoho is but one in a whole pool of like-minded individuals running this country. The numbers are frightening, but the second most scary thing in all of this is the fact that the electorate keeps voting them into office! That begs the question – “Who’s crazier? The ReBiblicans, or the Voters?”

  1. Except for Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and SNL alum, Al Franken (and I’m only “pretty sure” of him,) I think all politicians are a little bit nuts. They’d have to be to want to get involved in the quagmire that our entire political system has become, especially since Citizens United. I don’t envy any of them their jobs, except maybe for the perks like lifetime pay and medical coverage that covers everything, no matter how sick they get, or how much it costs.

I KNOW the voters are crazy because I live among them in the reddest part of a very big, blue state. Here, they keep voting for idiot “farmer” congressmen that think climate change is when the leaves turn in the fall. I don’t know how to convince them that they are voting against their own best interests. It’s a sad state of affairs that I find more depressing with every passing day. I’m just glad I won’t live long enough to see how bad things will ultimately have to get before all these idiots wake the hell up.
